What can an AI-generated file contain?
An image or document can carry information that is not visible in the final picture or text. This can include ordinary EXIF data, editing-software fields, XMP records, document properties, invisible Unicode characters and content-provenance records.
Visible marks versus metadata
A visible logo or signature is part of the image pixels. Removing it changes the visible work and may infringe the creator’s rights. Metadata is stored around the visible content and can sometimes be removed by recreating the file.
ClearFile’s image tool performs a browser re-export. That commonly leaves out EXIF, XMP and some provenance metadata. It does not paint over visible logos or signatures.
Why provenance matters
Provenance systems can help people understand where content came from and how it was edited. Removing provenance can also remove useful context. Only clean files you own or are authorized to modify, and do not use the result to misrepresent authorship.
What invisible text cleaning does
Some text files contain zero-width, direction-control or other invisible characters. ClearFile removes a defined set of these characters without rewriting the visible prose. It does not claim to defeat every statistical watermark or vendor detector.
Safe workflow
Keep the original, work on a copy, verify the output and preserve required attribution. If a platform or contract requires AI disclosure, file cleaning does not remove that obligation.
